Elaine Szewczyk was born in Krakow, Poland. She writes about books for Publisher’s Weekly and served as the fiction editor of Kirkus Reviews for nine years. Her work has been featured in McSweeney’s, Publisher’s Weekly, Kirkus Reviews, the Chicago Tribune, NAD NOW (the journal of the National Academy of Design), the Financial Times, People, Time Out New York, among other publications. Elaine is the author of the novel I'm with Stupid, which was optioned by ABC Studios/Disney. Since 2016, she has been a script reader for Made in NY Writers Room, a diversity-focused program that provides fellowships to emerging television writers. She’s also a manuscript copy editor at Rocky Nook publishers. Elaine is a voting member of the Writers Guild of America and the National Book Critics Circle, and a member of the Authors Guild and the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
